Terms of Service

Last updated 28 September 2026

These terms apply to your use of the Fredjoe Auctioneers website and online auction platform, operated by Fredjoe Auctioneers Ltd, Plot 8201, Garden Road, Lusaka, Zambia (“Fredjoe”, “we”, “us”). By registering or bidding you agree to them. Individual auctions may carry additional conditions of sale, which are shown on the auction page and form part of these terms.

1. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 and give accurate registration details.
  • You must verify your email address and phone number, and complete identity verification (KYC) and be approved before you can bid.
  • Keep your password secret. You are responsible for all bids and activity on your account; tell us immediately if you think someone else has used it.
  • We may refuse, suspend or close an account, for example after a payment default or suspected fraud.

2. Lots and descriptions

We describe every lot as accurately as we can, but descriptions, estimates, condition notes and photographs are statements of opinion, not guarantees. Lots are sold as they are, with any faults. Please inspect a lot, or ask us for more information, before you bid.

3. Bidding

  • Every bid is a binding offer to buy the lot at that amount if it is the winning bid.
  • Bids must meet the minimum increment shown for the lot. Bids cannot be withdrawn once placed.
  • Lots may have a confidential reserve price. If bidding does not reach the reserve, the lot may go unsold.
  • To keep bidding fair, a bid placed in the closing minutes of a lot extends its closing time by the period set for that auction.
  • The highest valid bid when the lot closes wins. The auctioneer’s decision is final in any dispute over bidding, and we may withdraw a lot or cancel a bid placed in error or in breach of these terms.
  • We are not responsible for bids that fail because of internet, device or connection problems on your side.

4. Price, fees and taxes

If you win, you pay the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, plus VAT on both, at the rates shown when you pay. All amounts are in Zambian Kwacha (ZMW). Showroom purchases are priced as shown on the item.

5. Payment

  • Pay within the time stated for the auction. Some auctions require a deposit when you win, with the balance due before collection; the amount due is shown on the lot page and in your account.
  • Pay by bank transfer to the account shown at checkout, or by any other method offered there. After a bank transfer, upload your proof of payment; the payment is complete once we have confirmed it with our bank.
  • If you do not pay on time, we may cancel the sale, offer the lot to another bidder or re-auction it, keep any deposit to cover our costs and losses, and suspend your account.

6. Collection and risk

Ownership passes to you once we have received full payment. Collect your purchase at the time and place we tell you. Risk in the lot passes to you on collection, or when the collection period ends, whichever is first. We may charge reasonable storage costs for lots not collected on time.

7. Our liability

Our total liability to you for any lot is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be excluded under Zambian law, including under the Competition and Consumer Protection Act.

8. Using the site

Do not interfere with the platform, place bids you do not intend to honour, bid on your own lots, or use automated tools to bid. Content on the site, including photographs and descriptions, belongs to Fredjoe or its consignors and may not be copied without permission.

9. Privacy

How we handle your personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows when they last changed, and the version in force when you place a bid applies to that bid. These terms are governed by the laws of Zambia, and the courts of Zambia have jurisdiction over any dispute.
